Clean-up dive activity held in Batangas

We cannot deny that we use and produce plastic on a daily basis. Especially in this generation, where people primarily produced plastic containers and ready-to-drink and eat foods.
Plastic waste is a major source of global pollution, posing the greatest threat to the health of the oceans that sustain humanity while also endangering people's lives.

Nestle Philippines is a food company that manufactures and markets products under well-known brands in the country such as Nescafe, Milo, and Nestea. In the Philippines alone, 2.7 million tons of plastic waste are generated each year, with an estimated 20% of this ending up in the ocean, making the country one of the world's leading contributors to marine plastic pollution.

This is the primary reason why Nestle, the world's largest food and beverage company, is working to become a plastic neutral company. They sought to recycle and protect our oceans from plastic waste because they used plastic in their products.

Nestlé's goal is for none of their packaging, including plastics, to end up in landfills, oceans, lakes, or rivers. They are working hard to meet it and contribute to a waste-free future.
"At Nestlé, we have a vision that none of our packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfill, oceans, lakes, or rivers." "We are working hard to deliver on it and contribute to a waste-free future," said Christine Ponce-Garcia, Nestlé PH's sustainability lead.

Nestle PH "Nestlé Cares," a global volunteer program in which employees initiate activities that benefit local communities and the planet, and scuba divers from the company, in collaboration with the marine conservation social enterprise Pure Oceans, gathered for a Clean Up Dive Activity in Mabini, Batangas, to commemorate World Ocean Day.

During the activity, they also demonstrated how to separate waste from trash collected that day. Nestle also held seminars and modules in 20,000 public schools across the country, reaching millions of students in grades one through ten.
"The theme of World Oceans Day this year is 'Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean.' Together, we can do more," says Miggo Bautista, sustainability manager of Nestlé PH. "The work begins among ourselves, members of the Nestlé family, with a passion for caring for the environment."

The team collected 80 kilos of plastic waste at the end of the activity. Meanwhile, between August 2020 and May 2022, the company collected nearly 48 million kilos of plastic waste.
